The fastest growing demographics defecting from the public schools in favor of homeschooling have been black and Latino families. The only demographic that we're not finding a majority support for school choice is white Democrats. So the GOP has been seizing on this fact, and it's becoming something of a wedge issue for Democrats. It also seems like Republicans have realized how much this issue can be framed as a civil rights issue.
