What's Going on in the Rain Forests?

Nick Asgrat: I was on a field work expedition in the uplands of southeast asia, which is where i do a lot of my linguistic research. One man just calls out the name of this bird to the other man and then that's the sort of totality of the othe interaction. That's what really got me thinking about the function of language - much of what i talk about in this book. And i think really what's going on in that type of context is that language is creating connection.
