Is There a Contagion Effect on Democracies?
Dictators worry that their own people will start getting ideas or that instability spread to them. Xi Jinping just like Putin regularly frets about what they call color revolution spreading and so they just believe that their rule be safer if fellow despots won't punish them for human rights abuses. They're also pioneering this digital authoritarian system that basically takes the surveillance and messaging power of Apple Amazon Facebook Google and Twitter and concentrates it in the hands of autocratic governments.
