The Way of Man Is Not in Him
In Jeremiah 11, the prophet jeremiah asks God to direct his steps. He says that if he just trusts in himself, it's not in me to direct my steps. The way of man is not in himself; we must rely on god for direction. In chapter 11, there are people who are plotting against him: jews in jerusalem. They're going to try to kill him by throwing minto a cistern. And how this will end for jeremiah is that when the people of jerusalem are carted off to egypt, he will go with them and he essentially dies in exile.
