Is There a Contrast Between the Traditional Family and the Italian Ideal?

I tend to be very forgiving of those things. It is really hard for people to rise above the kind of drift of their own society. So yes, there is somewhat of a contradiction between the family she has and the family that she thinks of as the italian ideal. But i'm not sure that that hurts her so much, or that it should.
