The Importance of CT Scanners in Airport Security
London City Airport is the first major transport hub to adopt 3D scanners. It will be just over a year until all UK airports are kitted out with them. The machines use advanced x-ray technology that produces layered images. This makes it easier for security personnel to recognise items inside hand luggage. They also have better explosives detection capabilities. All of this means existing rules around liquids and electronics should become a thing of the past.
