The Dung Beetle and the Arms Race
Mutation can change the way an animal behaves. The dung beetle, for example, has a ball that it uses to protect itself from other beetles. A different kind of beetle burrows underground and blocks off its own entrance so no-one else can get in. In both cases you've got males fighting other males to get access to females but that one difference in behavior makes all the difference in the world.
