Using a Model to Predict Large Scale Plastic Items

We are using a model to try and predict where we will see large scale plastic items accumulating on the shoreline. To validate the model we need to go out and actually survey the different coastlines that we think will have lots of plastic items as well as those that don't. We're slowly working our way along the transect which is measuring about 50 metres in length, collecting as much of the litter as possible. What looks pristine when you start sampling is actually not and you start finding small bits of fishing rope and small bits of plastic all caught up in amongst the seaweed.
