In negotiation research, the problem is literally called agreement bias. You take a deal that's worse than an alternative you have because you're too uncomfortable saying no to the person right in front of you. Agriableness is a major cause of groupthink. It's a bunch of people nodding and striving for consensus instead of sharing their dissenting views or divergent opinions.
