The coronavirus pandemic made all of these things worse and perhaps more visible than naked eye but it did not invent them. We were having a hard time hanging out well before COVID-19 came along and made hanging out hard. I have nephew who's 20 years old now but when he was like 15 he told me that he would go to parties and he couldn't stand parties. How does the growth of the private sector and accompanying diminishment of the public sphere lead to a loss of connection intimacy? The skyrocketing costs of things like real estate and rent are escalating expectations for what doesn't domestic space has to include.
