The Queen's Death
The grand ceremony of king george's funeral began nine days after his death. His coffin was brought out of westminster hall and a solemn procession carried it slowly through central london. This seventieth anniversary of that and the acces of queen elizabeth the second, will be marked around the world this year. Her majesty remains the head of state in 15 countries, for all of which this will be a platinum jubilee year.
