Rates matter because rates are a key factor in discounting pretty much any kind of asset you want. So rates do matter to investors more than earnings, but they're not totally disassociated. When we start to see yields move as well, then we'll start to see further faster shifts in valuations. What will start it? The earnings recession too - so it's an earnings recession too.
