The idea that future existential crises will produce ever more sense of humanity as a single unified actor is hard to square with what we've already seen. So I think that we got a dry run of this in COVID, where like when humanity is faced with a shared threat, we might not revert immediately to kind of a doggy dog world. In fact, we didn't at all. But we did immediately go very local.
