It's a really interesting turnaround for France because in the past it tended to view enlargement with a lot of skepticism. It saw it as a way of undermining what was its core political objective, and that is the deepening of a political project for Europe. This used to create tensions between London and Paris when Britain was still a member of the European Union before Brexit. And so now it seems in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine that France are changing their tune.
