The Effects of Deflation on Consumers

Deflation can be very, very dangerous because once it's taken toll, it is very, very hard to get rid of. The only backstop you have is the government through what's called fiscal policy. Hyperinflation though is rare, like I saw in the mid 80s of Mexico. For hyperinflation to exist, you basically need a uncredible central bank, really a stupid central bank.
