The Importance of Proper Identification in Elderly Adults

The presence of a rib fracture is just another clue to get some good advanced imaging of the thoracol abdominal area. If it's three in the morning and I have an 85-year-old with a couple of rib fractures and I can't get them out for whatever reason, doing an intercostal block seems like a really, really good option. This may not specifically talk about the huge importance of appropriate allergies if this patient population, but as emergency physicians, a huge part in treatment of older adults have been dramatically injured is appropriate identification.
