The Pope and the Catholic point of view is if someone does die by suicide, then they're not going to go to heaven. So you can't save their soul. And so even though it seems very harsh and maybe some of us don't understand it, there is also a compassion in that point of view that they believe. I'm glad because as she points out, the tremendous loss and pain that they had to suffer was exacerbated by someone labeling her daughter's behavior as reprehensible. The family does not deserve that at all.
