Oscar's mother died in a car crash last year. He and his grandparents were left to deal with the loss alone. They had less than 500 dollars in savings at the time. Oscar says he couldn't focus on school while dealing with her death. The few things that got them out of their apartment were protestst issue they felt strongly about. In fact, they started dating after meeting someone at a protest.
