Being a good story teller 's an incredibly important part of fund raising, more important than i ever realized. There's a very specific process for getting associate roll these days that's more driven by getting a job at the best banks in the world rather than being recruited by the best recruiters. I would say, pick a niche, build your own brand in it, and do the best you possibly can....
