The Importance of Accepting God's Will

A friend of mine who was experienced in Dao to among Muslims, gave me some helpful advice concerning the larger context of the Islam and homosexuality debate today. He said that when looking at an aspect of Islam in isolation from its core essence, namely submission in worship to God alone, it is possible to find some excuse that would prevent a person from accepting a ruling on an issue. This is more so if it is viewed through the lenses of one's own assumptions, be they secularism, materialism, or any other ism that may come to mind. We cannot, Islamically, take the law into our own hands, as the shank of all the mentioned in fact.
