The Complexity of Extreme Weather Events

With some of the extreme weather events, it's much harder to get a clear trend from hurricanes and cyclones, typhoons. I think the correct term would be it's an area of open science in that there's still a lot of people trying to make that assessment. But then we only have to look to the extreme floods, say, that happened in Western Europe, this and northern hemisphere summer. It's not so much that the IPCC reports are not saying that these aren't plausible because they are. It's just that they don't happen that often and when they do, they're very hard to forecast Because they can be so localized.
