The Importance of Communicating Effectively
Most people lived and died within a relatively small number of miles from what they were born. So even if you could communicate easily and effectively maybe the person you're writing to can't understand you or maybe you can't understand. And when you can't communicate between, let's say, Britain and Italy, they're not going to know the advancements that are occurring on the other side. They can't compare notes. The pace of communication did exist, but it was glacial compared to what we have today.
