San Marino and Its Captains Regent

San Marino once wrote to Abraham Lincoln in 1861 and proposed an alliance between the US and San Marino. Even today the two nations are officially described to be on excellent terms. Despite being one of the smallest nations on earth San Marino even today is still writing itself into the history books. The country's captain regent Paolo Rondelli became history's first openly gay head of state after his election in 2022.
