Napoleon's Military Science Memorandum

By the time Napoleon arrived at Oxon in 1788, more than 20 years since it was first introduced, forward-thinking officers like the Dutés were still exploring its capabilities. He sometimes spent over eight hours a day in the classroom during this period, almost as much as he had when he was still a student. His studies of military theory and work with Duté managed to combine his intellectual nature, martial inclinations, sense of duty to the army, and enthusiasm for action and progress all into one endeavor.
