What Happened to the Rudder?
The tail control services were subjected to loads in excess of design limitations. The rudder balance weights on its leading edge hit the shroud doors knocked off. Then the rudder became jammed on the left side and was partially torn from its hinges. After introducing enough yawing motion to initiate a rapid roll to the left, it all just started oscillating. And it got to a point where they couldn't control the rudder any more,. Like their control linkage broke, and it became stuck to the left - which caused them to lose control of the plane.
