The Future of the Financialized University

Financialized university is seen as an agent consisting of assets to be speculated on, to be leveraged on. Students find themselves in a position where they have to speculate and treat their education as an asset with some returns on the future. But at the same time that very future becomes unmanageable, becomes entirely unpredictable for students. The combination of the unmanageability of the future and the imperative to continue speculating push students towards this feeling of loss of that future. It is that that that juncture that leads in our view, the current student population in the Anglo-American university to be faced with this particular form of anxiety.
