The neurotic accepts castration, that's why they're neurotic. They have that primordial affirmation, they yahoo, relative to castration. What the neurotic shrinks back from is not castration, but from turning his castration into what the other lacks. This scary part, the anxious part that the neurotic experiences is feeling like the desirous other is after their castration. It's unfortunate Lacan sticks with this castration term when what he really means is prohibition.
