The Noise of Cracotoa

The eruption of Cracotoa was one of the most violent in recorded history. A ship named Norham Castle was 40 miles away and its captain claimed his crew's eardrums had been shattered. The volcano is very close to water, so you might hear a quite intense noise of interaction of hot rocks with water. You might also hear some very distinct loud splashing noises as huge rocks from the explosion would impact with the water.
