Open source has been around in some form or other, probably since the seventies. It's possible to get a very high paying job doing bitcoin development. And it's also possible to make a non truv amount of money by just owning some bitcoin and holding on to it. There is no way to monotize this phenomenon where people would invent ground breaking, critical things.
