What Makes PFAS Compounds So Hard to Break Down?

PFAS compounds have unique chemical properties that nothing else has. They are hydrophobic, water repelling, leofoabic, oil repelling and thermally stable. The fluorine-carbon bond gives these compounds thermal stability but also gives it all of these properties not wanting to bond with other things which makes them hard to break down.
