Is the USS Little Rock a Fatal Flaw?

The Pentagon announced that eight of the 10 Littoral Combat ships would be retired, even though they averaged only four years old and had been built to last 25 years. Admiral Michael Gilday: We need a capable lethal ready navy more than we need a larger navy that's less capable, less lethal and less ready. The engines on these ships are so loud that they drown out the sounds of enemy submarines. They have less protective armor than typical warships because they were designed as terrorist hunters as random civilian hunters. And so since these ships just can't do what the military needs, now that we seem destined to go to war with Russia and China, this is an urgent problem.
