The Difference Between Supporting Free Speech Absolutism and Burning It All Down
I think we live in a very crass society, and that distinction is a useful one. I would support the right of Nazis to march through a largely Jewish town for all the reasons that the ACLU supported it. The solution is never to give up on freedom of speech,. It's about improving education so that the young are more inclined to read books or engage with culture rather than feel triggered by it.
