Global Warming Is Making It Harder for Water to Sink in the North Atlantic
Northward heat transport is one of the main factors that sets the mild european climate. A near shut own of the overturning circulation can lead locally to a cooling of more than ten degrees in the annual mean temperature. The sea level rise that we expect globally to occur will probably be enhanced at the us East coast, piled up to nearly a metr e meter. In africa, the annual monsoon rains on which tens of millions of farmers depend are also expected to become far less predictable because global warming is making it harder for water to sink.
