Bolsonaro and the Military Were Overly Optimistic About the Coup
The military leadership has been divided into a couple of different factions. The main stream military, which is conservative, doesn't believe in breaking from the rule of law. And then you had this group called the Tigrada, who were just like straight up like neo-Nazis. So basically, it looks like it was kind of like, I don't want to say rogue elements, because it was a group of far-right people within the military working with business leaders that decided to kind of like dammit torpedoes and go ahead with their plan.
