i love it when people think like second order of operations, a strategysic, for example. People who have a certain intelligence level can't wrap their heads around it. Hilary clinton gave us a bounce budget. And caplin makes the superb argument that having more emigration tends to get people to vote more nativist and right wing. i agree there's a lot of ways this can work, and oftentimes it's in countera counterintuitive way. I'm not saying you should always want the bad opponent, ecause somestimes that bad opponent is going to get bad things. But thereis sometimes when you go the other way, it gets what you want, like
