The Big Bang and the Singularity

Physicists are trying to avoid a singularity at the origin of the big bang. This is because, as i said earlier, general relativity breaks down. It doesn't know how to do any calculations beyond that. So they're going back and saying maybe the big bang was just like a rapid expansion of space from a previously dense kind of universe. That's how our universes would have created out of these inflatons. We think inflation happened, this crazy expansion at the very beginning.
