The Source of Indian Yellow
The source of indian yellow has been hotly debated, and for a long time it hung in the balance. N. Mukarji reported that people would fad s mango leaves, collect the ear and dry it, and then use that as a pigment. A few years ago, researchers dug into some of the pigment samples and actually found t there were traces of hybiric acid - also found in calurin. Other pigments like emerald green, are actually pretty dangerous.
