The Purpose of Schooling

From the start, there was a purpose behind schooling. It concentrated on what a highly centralized economy in a strong political state thought to need. Students were to learn to think of themselves as employees competing with one another for the favor of the boss. Only in this way could the menace of overproduction in America be content.
