The Origins of Mathematics

The origin of mathematics and geometry was seen as practical. It's still a matter for debate to which extent sophisticated we could say mathematics was used in things like building machines, architecture and other applied sciences. But we definitely have a lot of textual evidence and in some cases archaeological evidence to indicate that mathematics wasn't just an abstract pursuit but it was seen as something that had to do with everyday life.
