Gustav and fritz were put to construction work in the late thirties. They had formed a kind of resistance network that was geared towards providing support for prisoners, wangling extra food or dodging punishments. Fritz acquired these building skills which were a really key part of keeping them alive through several years in the camps. Gustav bluffed his way as an upholsterer before being redesignated as non-jewish in 19 forty three. But i believe there were 17 of them, 16 or 17 of them were called out at roll call one day, and there the yellow part of their badge was taken away.
