How to Train a Neural Network by Gradient Descent

The process of training a neural network by a gradient descent is an analogized to the process by which evolution searched over organisms in order to find humans. Just as evolution produced an instance of general intelligence, namely humans, similarly, gradient descent on your networks could produce a trained neural network that is itself intelligent. The key idea is that you want to gradually slide down the gradient towards an optimal solution by taking small steps in the direction of the steepest descent at each point. You can kind of visualize gradient descent as a way of finding the lowest point in a mountainous area of land with lots of peaks and troughs and valleys. By iteratively moving in the direction that reduces the error that they get
