If there's no Allah to define to aspire towards for the sense of truth, I believe it's essential. If there is no that thing to aspire to, then the king becomes that thing for everybody. And remember, I'm saying Allah is truth, reality, life, and death, all of those things. That was a very revolutionary concept. Emperors realized the revolutionary power of that concept. So they appropriated it and conflated it with this man in the sky concept,. Because that's the dominion you need as an emperor to then have empire.
