The Importance of Connecting India to the Diaspora

There is no question that the Modi government has gone from trying to be the big brother and at times getting pushed back to now trying to really forge good relations with its neighbors. Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives have all seen some kind of outreach from India. But in this global order, it seems from a lot of the coverage and the way exactly how the US has been doing us that the US needs us more than we need them. Is that a correct assessment and if there is a correct assessment, how can we leverage it?
