Is There a Generational Shift in PLA Leaders?
There is going to be a generational shift just in terms of background. If we look at kind of the current senior leadership on the CMC and even the next CMC, which will really be from the same generation. These are guys who were mostly born in the 1950s. They saw what a weak China looks like. I think tend to be a little bit more risk averse. There may be a sense of humility. It's maybe not quite the right word, but at least a sense of this is where China is. This is kind of the danger of going back to a period of chaos and war.
