How to Write a Five Paragraph Essay

I've had the extreme displeasure once of teaching an intro to writing course. This was the worst experience of pedagogy in my life. You're just you're evaluating how well someone can follow the instructions. It's basically a mad lib and that form of writing as an evaluation technique is now absolutely useless because the machine is better than probably 80% of students I do. So I think maybe more oral exams more presentations more written exams in person like you need some way to check whether students are actually internalizing the concepts.
