The Barrier Between Desire and Joy

We don't need the New York Times to tell us that human beings are wretched and struggling. We just, you know, we know it's true of us when we read the story of Noah. It is our Ark. And so it's similar when I go to Baldwin's text and I read and go telling on the mountain that the young protagonist was looking for love to which he desired but did not have early on in his life. Then I realized I remember times in my life where I looked for love and couldn't find it.
