The Importance of South Asia in World Christianity

Christianity in South Asia is a precursor to global Christianity because of this rapid accession to the Christian fold. But that growth has stalled and what you see is a resurgence of Hinduism, a resurgence of more assertive Buddhism. The vast majority of Christians in South Asia come from highly oppressed and marginal groups of people. And these people would have benefited from Bible translations. That knowledge producing apparatus was epistemologically in a very different place from where most people who became Christians were.
