Sleep Paralysis and the Night Haunted World
Scandinavian folklore tells of a creature called the night hag that sits on a person's chest and gives them nightmares. Back in the middle ages, europe's succubus and incubus were demons who seduced or outright assaulted their sleeping victims. Angels too, fell down from heaven to copulate with humans, sometimes even spilling divine secrets. In saint lucia, the souls of the dead and unborn climb on to people's chests. In tyland, someone can wake up and be ghost covered. In ethiopia, ghosts may try to smother you to death in your sleep. A similar demon is known as a gin.
