Introduction
In August 1996, one of Hollywood's hottest directors was wrapping up a film shoot near Halifax, Nova Scotia. At around midnight on the last night of shooting, the crew broke for lunch and mostly everyone helped themselves to a bowl of seafood chowder. Almost immediately, he left the set to throw up, and when he came back, all hell had broken loose. Some people were laughing uncontrollably, others were crying and throwing up. In all, 60 people who ate the chowder were taken to hospital. Doctors initially thought it was food poisoning, but following toxicology tests, it was revealed that the drug PCP, also known as Angel Dust, was to blame.
