How to Determine the Period of Your Tide
How quickly the tides come in and out is based on the moon's orbit. In fact, there are a few places where the tide will come in faster than you can run. A bigger moon could imagine a tide that takes weeks to come in and go out instead. If the Earth orbited a gas giant so that we were very close to something very large and then rotated a little more slowly it would have higher tides.
